Deronda Metz, Charlotte native, licensed social worker, and entrepreneur created
Mission in Services doing business as Africa Tours and Fashions to provide group travel
to Africa combined with a service project during the travel experience.
While on a trip in East Africa she discovered that the opportunity to connect with the
people of Africa through service, dancing and sharing a meal brought her a sort of joy
that she had never experienced during her social services career. Upon returning to
the United States, It was clear that her passion for serving others had expand for
thousands of miles.
After working 30 plus years for one of the largest nonprofits, missions-oriented
organizations in the world, the visionary of Africa Tours and Fashions was reaffirmed
that being of service and connecting with people is living your best life.
Deronda’s travel has resulted in creating opportunities for African people around the
continent as she is a buyer with several merchants from North, East and West Africa.
Deronda takes pride in selling only authentic African crafts that are made in Africa.
